Khir Toyo Apologises to Teresa Kok

SHAH ALAM, 10 Dec: The former Chief Minister of Selangor, Dr Mohamed Khir Toyo, apologised to the Member of Parliament for Seputeh, Teresa Kok, for publishing an article on his blog on the issue of the azan (call to prayer).

Khir also agreed to pay an undisclosed sum of money for damages to Kok.

In return, Kok agreed to withdraw the suit against him, Malaysia Kini reported.

This was recorded in front of the Judicial Commissioner, Siti Khadijah Badjenid today.

Khir read his apology statement in open court.

“I, Mohamad Khir Toyo, the first defendant in the suit, without admission to liability apologise to YB Teresa Kok Suh Sian (picture) for causing the publication on my blog www.drkhir.com on July 9, 2008 as stated in the statement of claim.”

“I regret publishing the same and agree to pay costs.”

In December 2008, Kok filed a defamation lawsuit against Khir and Utusan Malaysia for RM30 million each.
