KKB Hospital needs four hemodialysis machines

SHAH ALAM, 26 June: The state government was asked to consider the request to increase People’s Dialysis Centres, especially in Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB).

KKB Assemblyman, Lee Kee Hiong, said that the area often received high demand from kidney patients seeking hemodialysis treatment at the KKB Hospital.

She said that the existing hospital at KKB is facing shortage in dialysis machines and as a result, patients have to wait their turn for treatment.

“They cannot afford the expensive treatment at private hemodialysis centres that reach RM150 to RM180 per treatment.

“There are only 14 hemodialysis machines at the hospital and I have found that there is sufficient space to accommodate four more machines,” she told Selangor Kini.

In relation to this, she hopes that the state government will consider contributing four hemodialysis machines and the cost of RM10,000 for the renovation of the old treatment place in the effort to increase the quality of hemodialysis treatment at the hospital.

“I am aware that the state government has no plans to expand dialysis centres, instead they will create the Selangor Health Dialysis Panel as an enhancement to the existing People’s Dialysis Centre Programme presented at the State Assembly session in April.
