PETALING JAYA, 23 June: The election for the Kota Raja branch will not be held again as the election was held for six continuous hours in accordance with the regulations.
One June 22, the re-election process for the area turned violent, resulting in two men being injured in a brawl during the voting session.
The incident which took place at about 4.30pm happened when the candidate’s supporters broke through the polling centre’s fence and threw chairs at each other, causing the voting process to be stopped half an hour earlier.
The PKR Central Election Committee Chairman, Datuk Johari Abdul, said that they have identified the suspects involved and will then, submit them to the police if they are not party members.
Meanwhile, the Disciplinary Board will take action if it is proven that party members were the ones involved.
“The Disciplinary Board is currently investigating. If they are PKR members, action will be taken against them, but we will leave it to the police if they are outsiders.
“We also need to see if this incident involves the same previous group or not because this incident has happened twice,” he said.
In the previous incident involving Kota Raja, Johari said that they had taken the action of sacking and pardoning.
“The Disciplinary Board is carrying out investigations. Some were sacked and discharged.
“Action was also taken on candidates who then appealed and apologised. So, we have given them a second chance to compete, but with stern warning,” he said.
