Kuantan Wanita Umno Chief Uncivilised, Outdated

SHAH ALAM, 30 Dec: The statement by the Kuantan Wanita Umno Chief, Datuk Zaiton Mat, who fought tooth and nail to defend the Barisan Nasional (BN) minority government and had the cheek to chase away those who do not think the same way, showed how blind she is to the troubles of the people.

The PKR Wanita Chief, Zuraida Kamaruddin, said that this is different from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) which is more inclusive in winning the hearts of the people by providing sincere service. Instead, Umno leaders fail to understand what and good and right for the people.

“The Wanita Umno Chief is blind to the people’s problems,” she said, quoted from Suara Keadilan.

Zuraida also questioned the appropriateness of Zaiton’s challenge since the results of the last election showed only 47 percent of Malaysian supported Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Not even one member of Umno was asked to leave Malaysia even though they became the minority group in this country,” she said.

On 28 December, Zaiton reportedly asked Malaysians to leave the country if they do not like the BN government.

In relation to that, Zuraida said that Zaiton’s statement showed that she had an uncivilised and outdated attitude.

“The reason of the severe drop in the people’s support for Umno-BN is because Malays are beginning to realise that all this time they have been deceived. The New Economic Policy which is supposedly created to boost the economy of Bumiputeras only enriches cronies.

“The failure proves that Umno is not the champion of Malays. The leaders are busy fighting for their own pockets, while the majority of the people are burdened by taxes and increases in price of goods,” she said.

She also demanded for Zaiton to apologise for her excessiveness in issuing a statement that brings about uneasiness to the people in the country.
