Labohan Dagang Water Treatment Plant Development Project to overcome water supply disruption

BANTING, JUNE 13: The State Government is developing the Labohan Dagang Water Treatement Plant to overcome water supply disruption in Kuala Langat.

Orang Besar Daerah Kuala Langat, Tengku Mohamed Al Haj Tengku Harun said, the State Government’s proactive step to ensure sufficient treated water supply to meet the need of consumers in the district which is fast developing due to the existence of a new townships.

“The aim of this project is to reduce Kuala Langat’s dependency on clean water from Semenyih River, Selangor River and Labu River.

“With the expected completion in June next year, the treatment plant can supply 200 litres of water per day and it can sustain itself for 75 days in the event of drought without taking water from Langat River,” he said.

He said that during the Break Fast Ceremony and Aidilfitri Contribution with His Royal Hghnes the Selangor Sultan at Kampung Sungai Lang Baru Mosque yesterday.

He said the new townships in Kuala Langat are Bandar Rimbayu, Bandar Saujana Putra and the Morib Bay Resort City which are huge development projects being undertaken currently and will be developed based on the planned housing city and smart city concept.

Commenting further, Mohamed said, the district can expand further and attract investors and property industry players through an efficient road network planning and accessibility to the main city in Klang Valley.

“Besides constructing the West Coast Expressway Taiping to Banting which is expected to be ready in two years, a number of road widening proposals on main roads including the proposed construction of new roads will be designed and implemented.

“The good news for the people of this area is that, the road from Kampung Sungai Kelambu to Bandar Seri Ehsan near KLIA will be built beginning next year and a 14km highway costing RM114 million which can disperse traffic from Banting to KLIA,” he said.

Despite the rapid development, Kuala Langat still maintains its tradition and heritage with Islam as the pillar in the village society.

In the ceremony, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah gave a total of RM214,000 to 428 asnaf (eligible zakat recipients) consisting of 294 poor people and 134 new Muslim converts, each receiving RM500 as Aidilfitri contribution. He also officiated the Kampung Sungai Lang Baru Mosque.

Also present were Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali; State Exco, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi; State Secretary, Dato’ Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya and Kuala Langat Member of Parliament, Dato’ Abdullah Sani Abdul Halim.

Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Chairman, Dato’ Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) Director, Dato’ Haris Kasim were also present together with other guests.
