Lajim: BN MPs should not just be ‘yes-men’

SHAH ALAM, 13 Aug: The dismissal of the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Afdal, recently aggravated the anger of Umno leaders in Semporna.

The Sabah PKR Chairman, Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, considers the action of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib, to be a big mistake.

“Now their members in Sabah, especially in Semporna, are in dispute. Similarly for Kota Marudu and Kudat.

“They forget that Sabah is the main contributor to Barisan Nasional’s victory. So, I think that the people of this state have already made the decision to change the government,” he told Selangor Kini.

In the meantime, Lajim, who is also the former Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government, said that being ‘yes-men’ in the Barisan Nasional party is favoured.

“It’s true. Look at Datuk Salleh Said Keruak, he is a strong wind. No Parliament, became a Senator, then a Minister. If Muhyiddin (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) was a ‘tea-man’, he would certainly still be the Deputy Prime Minister.

“If I was a minister and this is not right, I would reprimand. I need to correct it for the future of the people. Not the future of the leader (Najib).

“Why do we not have the right to criticise? As a representative elected by the people, we cannot be ‘yes-men’,” he said.
