SHAH ALAM, 24 JAN: Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin stated that it is not fair for the Deputy Chairman of Sabah Umno, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak, to try to involve PKR Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to clarify the issue of illegal immigrants.

This is because the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad has already admitted that he was directly involved in the issuing of identity cards to foreigners.

“The challenge issued by Salleh is not accurate,” said Lajim who was the former Minister of Housing and Local Government.

He explained that the RCI establishment revealed the issuing of about 200,000 identity cards to foreigners.

“This revelation will open the eyes of Sabahans.

“The BN government in currently not protecting the interests of Sabahans but they are more interested in protecting illegal immigrants and also those that not eligible to receive identification cards,” he said.

The panel members of the RCI comprised of the former Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Professor Datuk Seri Dr Kamaruzaman Ampon and the former Kuala Lumpur Chief of Police, Datuk henry Chin Poy Wu.

Also present was the former State Secretary of Sabah, Datuk Kee Mustafa and former Sabah Attorney General, Tan Sri Herman J Luping.

Further proceedings will be held from January 28 till 1 February and from 22 February to 27 February.
