The Mayor, Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad, said that the social responsibility is collaboration between MBPJ and the public transport operator, Rapid KL.

“Providing this free bus service is another initiative by MBPJ to overcome traffic congestion in Petaling Jaya.

“A total of 10 buses will be provided for the convenience of residents to go to destinations such as schools, government departments, the market, LRT stations and hospitals,” she explained to Selangor Kini.

Alinah said that the service involves Jalan Yong Shook Lin, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Templer, Jalan Penchala, Jalan Semangat, Jalan Gasing, Jalan Othman and around the Section 52 City Centre.

“Therefore, MBPJ hopes that all Petaling Jaya residents will take advantage of this provided service.

“This initiative is also a move to encourage the use of public transportation, especially in the City Centre,” she said.

The implementation of the free bus service is in line with MBPJ’s focus to develop the public transport infrastructure and traffic management to be efficient and integrated to ensure the convenience and comfort of local residents.

“In addition, MBPJ has prepared a five-kilometre (km) bicycle path encompassing the council area which was built in addition to the existing 5.6km.

“Four ‘park and ride’ facilities offering 1,911 car park bays at the existing Light Rail Transit (LRT) station will also be built,” he said.
