MCA allegedly bought land for RM1 per sqft

PETALING JAYA, SEP 18: MCA had allegedly bought government land in Kampung Chempaka for RM1 per square feet, claimed Yeo Bee Yin.

The Damansara Utama Assemblyman said that happened in 2007 when Barisan Nasional (BN) was still governing the State.

She said the land which was also zoned as ‘water body’ was sold to MCA without them having to pay the market premium.

“It is strange that MCA can own a land which is classified as ‘water body’.

“How BN had dared to do such thing, in fact they also dared to apply to change the classification even though the State Government is Pakatan now,” she said through her Instagram @yeobeeyin.

Yeo revealed that the matter ‘kantoi’ or was exposed when MCA applied to Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to change the land status from ‘water body’ to commercial, early this year.

“BN is really ‘sick’, hopefully citizens would reject politicians who abuse their power to enrich themselves and their cronies,” she said.

Petaling Jaya Utara Member of Parliament, Tony Pua had earlier claimed the sale was done through MCA Member of Parliament, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.

He said that the land was at least RM400 per square foot with a total value of RM18 million, however it was sold for merely RM50,000 to MCA.

“We urge the land to be returned to Selangor or MCA to pay the current market price of the land,” he said as quoted by Malay Mail Online.
