MH17: 62 bodies at crash site in perfect condition

SHAH ALAM, 3 Aug: Only 62 bodies found at the crash site of the MH17 aircraft are still in perfect condition.

The Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, believes that the bodies that have yet to be found are still scattered at the crash site.

He said that he too does not know how long the investigation will take even with the help of experts.

“We hope to arrive at the scene and seek help from the local residents to identify where the missing bodies are,” he said, quoted from an Awani report.

He is also disappointed that the investigating team could not arrive as early as possible to the site due to security and existing procedures.

Khalid also admitted that the crash site was left idle for a long period and there is a possibility that evidence has been altered.

In the meantime, a team of international investigators using tacker dogs found several more bodies and items belonging to the victims of the MH17 plane crash.

The team is now looking for 80 more bodies that still remain in the area which is about 20 square kilometres and it is expected to take several more weeks.

In addition to that, a preliminary report on the MH17 crash investigation found nothing out of the ordinary in the aircraft’s cockpit voice recording (CVR).

The CVR which was downloaded by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), United Kingdom, heard communication between the pilots and the air traffic controllers (ATC).

The Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight, carrying 283 passengers and 15 crew, was believed to have been shot down by a group of pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine while on route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on July 17.
