MIC Thugs Attack Participants of 12-12-12 Seated Protest Assembly

PUTRAJAYA, 12 Dec: A group of 30 thugs that have been claimed to be MIC members had attacked Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders at the National Registration Department (JPN) at Putrajaya this morning.

The incident occurred after the leaders of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) which was led by PKR Vice-President N Surendran was allowed to enter the JPN Director, Datuk Jariah Mohd Said regarding the procurement problems of the people of this counrty who are still using red identity cards.

Johor PKR Chairman, Datuk Chua Jui Meng, a victim of aggressive actions of the members of the group was physically pushed following feelings of hostility towards the endeavours undertaken by PR leaders.

Surendran who was met during a press conference was evidently regretful of the incident and has demanded an explanation from the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein.

“The police deliberately allowed thugs from MIC to enter and attack us while we had just excited the office of Director, Datuk Jariah.

“In April when we went to the Prime Minister’s Office (JPM) we were attacked and today we were attacked again.

“What was surprising was that the police conspired and had let them attack us,” he said.

In regards to the identity cards, he had asked JPN to make immediate consideration so that this problem can be solved apart from being ready to give cooperation.

“We were disappointed when Datuk Jariah said that he will provide them with the application forms for citizenship. We objected.

“Once we explained, JPN finally agreed to issue only the identification card application even though they are already citizens,” he said.

Nearly 300 applicants were present at the Putrajaya National Registration Department in conjunction with the ’12-12-12 Seated Protest Assembly’.

They began to gather at the car park before marching and arriving in front of the National Registration Department Main Gate at 11.20 am.

The situation was rather tense following the closure of the main entrance however the situation was defused by the Shah Alam Member of Parliament Khalid Samad after 10 PR representatives were allowed to be admitted for discussions.

The result of the discussions saw JPN’s willingness of providing more than four counters to process information of people who have yet to obtain the blue identification cards for the purpose of verification and registration.

Among the PR leaders present was the Subang MP, R Sivarasa, Kapar MP, S Manikavasagam, Kota Raja MP, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, Klang MP, Charles Santiago and several Selangor Assemblymen and Assemblywomen as well as representatives of Pakatan Rakyat component parties.
