MPKj cleans Taman Sri Nanding monsoon drain, residents’ worries over

SHAH ALAM, 8 July: The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) is actively cleaning the monsoon drain at Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat, to overcome problems that have been troubling the residents of the area.

About 500 metres of the area is filled with scrubs, which are allegedly dangerous and may possibly cause an outbreak of dengue and the breeding of wild animals.

The Assistant Director of the Corporate Planning and Public Relations Unit, Kamarul Izlan Sulaiman, in a statement to Selangor Kini, said that the matter is under MPKj’s attention and preventive measures have be taken for the public’s safety.

“The MPKj Department of Municipal Services and Health has visited and monitored the place on June 13.

“Clean-up and maintenance of the monsoon drain was carried out by an appointed contractor and was completed on July 5,” he said.

Previously, the Assemblyman for Dusun, Razaly Hassan, said that the neglected monsoon drain posed difficulties to the residents of the area, who felt that their lives were threatened.

“Several times we asked MPKj to clean the drain, but until now, the authorities have yet to perform their duties.

“The drain is in a very bad condition and it contributes to a lot of things like the breeding of mosquitoes and some residents have complained about snakes entering their homes. This drain is quite dangerous,” he said.
