Murni provides free breast cancer screening

SHAH ALAM, 5 Feb: Good news for women, especially in rural areas, as they now have the opportunity to obtain breast cancer screening services for free without having to go to a hospital.

The facility is being realised through the introduction of the Mobile Unit Reaching Nationwide with Information (Murni) in collaboration with the state government and the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA).

The Exco for Health, Welfare, Women’s Affairs and Family, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that Murni can be identified by their pink vans that will travel across 56 constituencies in the state, directly to women to obtain the services offered.

She said that the public has the opportunity to receive various input and information about the disease that is synonymous with women.

“Most women in Selangor have already joined the mammogram programme offered by the state government, but there was no follow-up inspection thereafter.

“With Murni, we can help women buy providing information, knowledge and notices regarding the dangers of breast cancer,” she said at the compound of the State Government Secretary’s (SUK) office yesterday.

Daroyah, who is also the Sementa Assemblyman, said that they will provide the schedule for the Murni tour that will be disseminated through the Constituency Service Centre Office, including the Selangor Kini newspaper.

She hopes that the opportunity can be fully utilised by women as one of the steps to maintain their health and prevent cancer at the early stages.

“Women are advised to not miss out on this golden opportunity to obtain these services without having to travel far.

“Murni will be in your area in conjunction with the World Health Day, starting this April,” she said.
