Parade Floats to Enliven PJ Lantern Festival

PETALING JAYA, 12 Sep: Various interesting programmes, including a float parade, lion dance performance and an orchestra will enliven the 2013 Petaling Jaya Lantern Festival.

The festival which will take place on 21 September 2013 at Cempaka Buddhist Lodge is organised by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) in conjunction with the mooncake festival which is celebrated by the Chinese community in the country.

The Chairman of the celebration, Ir Lee Suet Sen said that it aims to introduce the Chinese community’s culture and customs to the public.

The annual programme will also have a colouring contest for children organised as well as a lantern design contest especially for visitors.

“All are invited to attend to enliven the celebration. It provides understanding of other races about the mooncake festival,” he said in a press conference at the MBPJ headquarters today.

During the same celebration last year, over 7,000 people of all races attended the festival which began in the evening till late at night.
