Phase 2 of the Petaling Jaya one-way system continues

PETALING JAYA, 18 Feb: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will continue the second phase of the one-way road system around the Section 52 City Centre involving Jalan Barat Utara, Timur, Sultan and Yong Shook Lin.

The acting Mayor of MBPJ, Puasa Md Taib, said that MBPJ will also make improvements to the design of the road plan.

He said that the move is being taken to ensure the interests and safety of road users, including pedestrians who are given priority.

“The improvement is also consistent with the views and comments made by Tetuan Pakatan Jurutera Pintar, the road safety audit consultant appointed by MBPJ.

“This project needs to be continued in line with current and future needs to accommodate the needs of future development,” he said.

Puasa said that MBPJ will comply with recommendations by the road safety auditors and sync them with the road design plans.

As for the safety aspect, he said that MBPJ will build pedestrian bridges at several strategic locations.

“Pedestrian bridges will be built to replace the traffic light pedestrian crossing at strategic locations such as Jalan Utara near the Asia Jaya LRT station.

“Other facilities such as bus stops will also be reviewed, including at school areas by providing a lay-by to facilitate buses in dropping off and picking up students safely,” he said.
