SUBANG JAYA, OCT 25: DYMM Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, graced the occasion to celebrate with 30 children from Pusat Penjagaan Anak-anak Yatim Sai Pandiam Setia Alam at Sunway Lagoon, on October 24.
Tengku Amir’s initiative and concern was to bring cheer and happiness to less fortunate children, so that they can live a better life.
“I took notice of the needs and plight of these children, who need continuous support from the society to live a more positive life.
“For that reason, the Selangor Youth Community and I were motivated to participate directly in lightening up these children’s lives.
“But from the very beginning, we had already helped this care center in their improvement works and in enriching the residential area for these children,” said the Raja Muda.
Tengku Amir said that at a press conference in the Lighthouse Restaurant, after enjoying recreation activities with the kids at the Wildlife Park and Amusement Park at Sunway Lagoon.
The community project, in collaboration with SAY Community and Sunway Group (Sunway), is an initiative to ensure that the children have a meaningful Deepavali celebration.
Sunway, as the main sponsor of the program, contributed the construction of a foyer for recreation purposes for the children at their care center.
Other contributions included tools and equipment, bookcases, fans and lights for the children’s use.
In the meantime, Raja Muda, who is also patron of Selangor Youth, said that they are committed to conducting programmes that involve several other care centres throughout the country.
“The focus is not just for a specific care centre, as there are other plans for me and Selangor Youth to continue such social programmes.
“Maybe after this we will continue our efforts at a Malay, Chinese and other community or child care centres.
“The focus is on the principles of equality, without any racial or gender differences because the happiness and welfare of these children is of importance,” said Raja Muda.
Meanwhile, Selangor Youth Director Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said that the community was open to attract more young volunteers, consisting of children in Selangor to be directly involved in social services and activities.
“We provide an opportunity for youths to get involved with our activities by registering at www.selangoryouth.com and we will contact you for the next programme,” he said.
