Ramadan bazaar traders must display price tag

SHAH ALAM, JUNE 2: Ramadan bazaar traders across Selangor must display price tags for all items on sale.

Head of Enforcement Section for Selangor Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK), Basarudin Mohiyudin said, traders who do not comply will be penalized under the 2011 Price Control and Anti-profiteering Act and can be fined up to RM100,000.

“This rule applies to all traders including those selling cakes and goodies, dishes and other food like fish and chicken.

“There are no exception to any traders even to those who only trade during Ramadan,” he said as quoted by Bernama.

He was reported to have said that after launching ‘#janganlebihlebih’ Campaign at state level, at the Seksyen 13 Ramadan Bazar yesterday.

Basarudin said, KPDNKK had inspected 1,831 bazaar stalls in 50 locations, including Shah Alam, Gombak, Petaling Jaya and Kuala Selangor, starting May 27 until yesterday.

He said, throughout the inspection, 30 traders have been warned for failure to display price tags.

“We also distribute pamphlets to bazaar traders to comply with KPDNKK’s regulations as per the 2017 Ramadan Price Control Scheme as part of the #janganlebihlebih campaign.

“The campaign in conjunction with Ramadan is to create public awareness to practice moderation in spending and wisdom in making choices,” he said.
