Rani: ‘Give Khalid a chance, instead of his own party pressuring him internally’

SHAH ALAM, 3 July: The Assemblyman for Meru, Dr Abdul Rani Osman, slammed the attitude of some Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders who have recently expressed for Tan Sri Abdul Khalid to step down as Chief Minister after he was defeated in the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) election.

Abdul Rani said that Abdul Khalid should be given the opportunity to restore imbalances in the state’s administration and the opposition coalition in the state.

“Give Abdul Khalid a chance to implement his plans for the good of all, instead of his own party pressuring him internally.

“Abdul Khalid must just remember that he is going up the stage in the name of the party,” he said, quoted from Sinar Harian.

Abdul Rani, who is also the former Selangor PAS Commissioner, said that Abdul Khalid’s defeat in the party elections should not be an excuse to ask the former corporate leader to step down, thus considering the defeat as normal and should not be disputed.

“In addition to that, he was not the only leader who lost at the branch level. There were many more who lost and that is not a problem at all,” he said.

Abdul Rani said that the issue of changing the Chief Minister and the replacement candidate has not even been brought up or discussed by PR.

“This is because the voices of those wanting the CM to be replaced are not the consensus of the majority of PR friends and there are PR friends who do not want the CM to be replaced,” he said.
