Recycling form the kitchen can manage waste systematically

SHAH ALAM, 1 Apr: The recycling programme from the kitchen is able to handle waste management problems when each house is supplied with three bins for plastic, paper and wet waste.

Dr Yaakob Sapari (PKR-Kota Anggerik) said that the programme is being carried out in developed countries with waste being separated from the kitchens of the people.

“It is about time a new system is introduced because the existing system has failed to overcome waste management issued,” he said during the debate session at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS).

Elaborating, Yaakob said that a large allocation should not be an issue in the effort to educate the people to manage waste better and systematically.

“If we spend RM5 million to buy trash bins, there is the possibility that we can reduce 10 percent of waste management expenditures of local authorities.

“Suppose we usually spend up to RM80 million a year, after this programme we may be able to save RM8 million,” he said.
