Relatives of MH370 Victims in China Protest at Malaysian Embassy

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 Mar: The families if Chinese national passengers on board the Malaysia Airlines MH370 aircraft gathered outside the Malaysian Embassy in Beijing to demand explanation from the airline and accused the Malaysian Government in Kuala Lumpur of “lying”.

The report by Reuters, quoted by Malaysia Kini, mentioned that the family members of the passengers chanted Malaysian government has cheated us” and “Malaysia, return our relatives” as they marched peacefully and held banners.

The police then formed a human chain outside the embassy to prevent them from getting closer to the embassy building.

The relatives protesting in Beijing held signs that said: “MH370, Don’t let us wait too long!” and “1.3 billion people are waiting to greet the plane”.

They wore matching t-shirts that said: “Best of luck to MH370, return home safely.”

“We’ve waited for 18 days and still, you make us wait. How long are we supposed to hang on?” a woman surnamed Zhang told Reuters.

The relatives of MH370 passengers who were not satisfied, initially gathered at a hotel in the city before marching to the embassy building.

Reuters, reporting on the mood at the hotel that housed the passengers’ relatives, said that one of the relatives read a statement condemning the Malaysian government, the military and MAS for “delays and deliberately concealing the truth”.

It was “an attempt to deceive the families of the passengers and an attempt to deceive the people of the world”, said the statement.

The statement was posted on a Chinese microblog by the “Malaysia Airlines MH370 Family Committee”.

In a later statement, the families said they would head to the Malaysian Embassy in Beijing to “protest, seek the truth and the return of their family members”.

Meanwhile, the Chinese TV network, CCTV, reported MAS officials arriving at the Lido Hotel in Beijing who were met by protests from the family members.

“They feel cheated and might be planning further action,” CCTV reported on Twitter.

A reporter from TV Canada also wrote on Twitter that the families of the passengers are heading the Malaysian consulate for that purpose.

CCTV also reported that the Chinese government has called the Malaysian Ambassador in China, Iskandar Saruddin,
