Undeveloped land by Federal Government should be taken over

SHAH ALAM, JUL 23: Kinrara Assemblyman Ng Sze Han fully supports Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s statement to take over lands not used by the Federal Government.

“According to the Menteri Besar, there are still many lands granted to the Federal Government yet to be developed and has caused many issues unfavourable to citizens,” he said.

Sze Han added that some lands were trespassed for activities such as illegal dumping of rubbish, open burning and also became dens for drug addicts.

“Lands granted to the Federal Government that are not maintained become eyesores and cause problems to the surrounding communities, especially when the unkempt areas become shelters for snakes.

“In Puchong, for example, the open land in Taman Kinrara Seksyen 4 has become a rubbish dump site,” he said in a media statement.

He added that although several cleaning operations were carried out, the same problem would crop up as long as the land is poorly maintained.

“In addition, the empty land next to SMK Batu 8 Puchong is also poorly maintained by the Education Ministry as it is now filled with shrubs.  Fires have broken out occasionally.

“The Federal Government’s failure and refusal to develop the land has caused waste, which ultimately affects the nation’s economy.

“I am certain that Selangor, as a leader in economy with its strong reserves, is capable of developing these lands that will eventually benefit citizens with more facilities and infrastructure built,” he said.
