Selangor Games: Petaling, Klang continue to excel in track

SHAH ALAM, 14 SEP: Klang and Petaling continue competing in the track field of Selangor Games (Sukses) 2015 yesterday with both teams displaying exciting action to win 13 gold medals.

From the 18 competitive events, only Gombak and Hulu Selangor provided some challenge to reach three and two golds, however Petaling won seven golds and beat Klang (six golds).

Like the men’s 100m event, Klang sprinter, Muhamad Aqil Yasmin once again defeated Muhammad Hazwan Ghalib (Petaling) in the men’s 200m event to win the gold while Khairul Rafiuddin Zulkifli (Gombak) was awarded the bronze medal.

The women’s 200m event was won by Ku Aldya Auni Ku Mohd Anuar (Gombak), while Hee Xia Oyi (Petaling) and Lim Jin Xuan (Klang) came second and third respectively.

Petaling celebrated seven golds through Ng Zi Qi (women’s 5,000m walkathon), Mohamad Azli Ghazali (men’s high jump), Amirul Hakim Johari (men’s 1,500m), S Vishnu (men’s 400m hurdles), Mohd Shahrin Azuan (men’s long jump), women’s high jump and the men’s 4 x 400m team.

Klang, with Angie Tan Yen (women’s long jump), Fariz Hazim Jamaludin (men’s discus throw), Norhashimah Mohd Sharif (women’s discus throw), Joeyne Ong (women’s 400m) and women’s 4 x 400m team won five golds.

Amirul Hakim Yusri (men’s 400m) and Yip Wan Ni (women’s 400m hurdles) added two more golds for Gombak.

Two long-distance runners for Hulu Selangor, M Govinda (men’s 10,000m) dan A Manissha (wonen’s 1,500m) excelled in their respective events, awarding the state with two golds.
