He said that senior citizens can also register as Members of the Malaysian Welfare Centre Council (MPKM) to obtain benefits as a member.

“Senior citizens should also register themselves from now on to receive benefits offered. Apart from that, senior citizens should also take care of their health, especially in terms of eating, because most diseases start from uncontrolled eating,” he said.

Also present was the Sabak Bernam Branch MPKM Chairman who is also the Orang Besar of the Sabak Bernam District, Datuk Bahrin Mad Akhir; the Tok Penghulu of Mukim Sabak, the Sabak Bernam Welfare Department Officer and the Sabak Bernam MPKM Branch Committee Members.

At the programme organised by the Sabak Bernam MPKM Brnach, the organisers also celebrated senior citizens around the District of Sabak Bernam by giving hampers to those who registered as Members of the Malaysian Welfare Centre Council.

Meanwhile, Sallehen, together with the PAS Unit Amal for the area of Sabak Bernam, took the opportunity to work together to build the foundation of the home of a resident, Hairol Nizam bin Salleh, in Kampung Batu 3, Sepintas.

The assistance was carried out as the house Hairol stays in is very dilapidated.

It is understood that the construction material worth RM2,000 for the foundation of the house was a contribution from the Batu 2 and Batu 4 JKKK, Sepintas.

Sallehen said that the assistance is a pilot to the programme carried out by him and the leaders of Sabak to help residents who have damaged homes and are less fortunate.

“Brother Hairol Nizam asked for help from the Zakat Centre, but did not qualify because his parents had moved to the PPRT Housing.

“Out of kindness, JKKK and the residents of the village helped him build a new house to stay in with the provisions available,” he said.
