SMK Bukit Jelutong shines in MBSA Recycling Campaign 2014

SHAH ALAM 14 Oct: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd are committed for the success of the School Level Recycling Competition since eight years ago.

The Deputy Mayor of Shah Alam, Mokhtar Hani, said that the competition is held to educate students about the importance of recycling in daily life. He said that it is hoped that the effort will be able to reduce environmental pollution caused from an uncaring attitude.

“I hope that the support and cooperation will continue. With commitment and the spirit shown, we can achieve the target we desire.

“Our effort will have a big impact on the next generation,” he said in front of 100 attendees at the Recycling Campaign Closing Ceremony and Award Presentation which was held at the MBSA Banquet Hall today.

Mokhtar also presented the prizes to the winners, accompanied by the F&N Corporate Affairs Manager and the Tetra Pak Malaysia Environment Manager, M Manjula.

For this year, all participants from pre-school (7), primary schools (14) and secondary schools (15) managed to collect 80276.6 kilograms recycle materials.

The school category was won by Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bukit Jelutong which won RM1500, followed by SMK Section 7 (RM1,300), SMK Section 19 (RM1,200),, SMK Section 11 (RM1,100) and SMK Section 18 (RM1,000).

Meanwhile, for the pre-school category, it was won by Tadika Seri Kurnia, Section 13 (RM300), followed by Tadika Pintar Soleh, Section 11 (RM200) and TUDM Subang Pre-School (RM100).

At the same time, SMK Bukit Jelutong also received a special Tetra Pak award and RM600 cash for their effort in collecting 1,120kg of plastic materials.

Meanwhile for the aluminium category, it went to SMK Section 7, which also received RM600 with 245.7kg of collected materials.
