Soccerkids MBSA win 1MCC-Yamaha Junior Football Championship 2014

SHAH ALAM, 13 May: The teenage football team, Soccerkids MBSA, showed impressive performance when they managed to win the 1MCC-Yamaha Junior Football Championship 2014 for the under-12 category.

The Deputy Corporate Director for the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Shahrin Ahmad, said that the victory allowed MBSA to clinch the title for the second time, consecutively, and take home the championship trophy and a voucher worth RM6,000.

He said that the Soccerkids team is handled by an experience coach, a formal national and Selangor footballer, Anuar Abu Bakar.

“The Soccerkids MBSA team was not set up in vain, as it was established to spot new talent in the sport of football to be polished and given intensive, as well as systematic training.

“This will surely produce quality players, in addition to being able to represent Selangor and Malaysia in the football arena,” he said in a press statement.

Located at the University Putra, Malaysia (UPM) Mini Stadium, two Soccerkids MBSA players also received special awards, the Best Finals Player award, which went to Muhd Amirul Ashrafiq Hanafiah and the Most Valuable Player award, which went to Harith Haiqal Adam Akar.

Elaborating, Shahrin said that the Soccerkids MBSA Academy is a training programme that encourages activities that are advantageous and beneficial to the people of Shah Alam, especially the younger generation.

“We want the young people to be involved in sports activities and educate them to be more disciplined and active.

“The activities provided are able to fill the free time of the young people and prevent them from unhealthy activities such as loitering and vandalism.

“MBSA hopes that sports programmes like this will produce a younger generation that is trained, disciplined, responsible and passionate about their duties,” he said.

Apart from Soccerkids, MBSA wants to be known as a sports city that is also active in organising various sports activities like the Mayor’s Cup Futsal Championship, the Shah Alam Criterion Programme and the Mayor’s Cup Volleyball Championship.
