SHAH ALAM, 6 Apr: The installation of the Rainwater Harvesting System (SPAH) managed to successfully reduce treated water consumption up to 75 percent.
The Exco for Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs, Elizabeth Wong, said that the savings depend on the capacity of the SPAH tanks and the amount of water that can be collected at a given time.
“The Selangor government requires all applications for development plans submitted to the local authorities to provide SPAH.
“This is for all buildings with a roof area of 100m2 or more,” she said when answering a question from Ng Suee Lim (DAP-Sekinchan).
In Selangor, eight premises are using the SPAH system.
This includes the Abdul Aziz Silver Jubilee Hall, Suk Selangor (RM288,000), the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Biomass Centre, Bandar Bukit Puchong (RM20,000), the MPSJ Mechanical Workshop (RM7,000) and the MBPJ Headquarters Building (RM109,500).
Other premises include the Bukit Indah Mosque, Ampang (RM95,000), the Sepang Municipal Council (MPSp) Complex, Cyberjaya (RM19,980), the Taman Dahlia Sepang Community Hall (RM15,000) and the Taman Putra Prima Sepang Community Hall (RM15,000).
