SPAN: Stage 4 of Water Rationing Implemented Until 30 April

SHAH ALAM, 1 Apr: The fourth stage of the scheduled water rationing in the Klang Valley starting this Friday will involve 620,237 houses in nine provinces.

National Water Services Commission (SPAN) chairman Datuk Ismail Kassim said that the phase will affect nine districts here: Gombak, Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

More than 6.7 million Selangor and Kuala Lumpur residents will be involved when this fourth stage is implemented until 30 April.

Ismail added that households affected by the fourth phase will be subject to a two-days on, two-days off water supply pattern.

He said that the scheduled rationing is because the water levels of major dams in Selangor are still low as the rate of rain in catchment areas since 16 March is little.

According to Datuk Ismail, the First Stage of the Scheduled Water Distribution which began on 27 February for the areas of Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang will continue because the Water Treatment Plat (WTP) in Cheras Batu 11 and Bukit Tampoi are still closed because the ammonia content in the river is still high.
