Tengku Amir Shah issue: Rahim’s statement false and inciting

SHAH ALAM, 30 Sept: The Selangor Royal Council denied that Tengku Amir Shah left Islam, as claimed by the former Chief Minister of Malacca, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik.

The Selangor Royal Council Secretary, Hanafisah Jais, said that his claim that the Sultan of Selangor will meet the Pope in the Vatican City is also false.

He said that both statements are seditious with elements of incitement that can generate resentment and anger among Muslims.

“It feels like this act is being carried out deliberately by him in bad faith to discredit and question the faith of the Selangor Raja Muda as a Muslim and directly states his apostasy.

“As a result, many responses and comments from the public, especially Muslims, show anger, hatred and denigration of the Raja Muda and the Sultan of Selangor,” he said in a press statement.

On September 25, Rahim, on Facebook, commented on the conversion of the Selangor Raja Muda and associated it with a message that saddened Muslims, in addition to the tragedies in Mecca and Arafah.

The Royal Selangor Council also expressed regret that Rahim did not check the validity of the information received when this can be easily be done if he was responsible.

In relation to that, Hanafisah said that the Selangor Royal Council calls for Rahim to stop all slander and lies immediately.

“At the same time, we want to inform that the Selangor Raja Muda is currently undergoing cadet officer training at the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy in the United Kingdom.

“Upon his return, he will be in the service of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM),” he said.
