PETALING JAYA, 12 Mar: PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli revealed the management documentation of the timber yield in Terengganu under the Chief Minister, Datuk Sri Ahmad Said, who is allegedly implicated in a corruption scandal.

According to him, the modus operandi of the companies that want to participate in the tender to produce timber was also disclosed, where all involved companies were forced to purchase the RM2 company for RM2.5 million.

In fact, he said, till now, there is still no information or prosecution although the evidence of payment is clear and the agreement which was signed clearly links the purchase of the RM2 company with the tender to produce timber in Terengganu.

“Today I am showing the proof of payment of how the companies who fell victim had to pay a deposit of RM1 million to the planters who were believed to represent the political interests of Umno in Terengganu.

“In fact, the timber mismanagement in Terengganu has become a big issue so much so that several official investigations have been conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) itself.

“However, I have not gotten any response from Datuk Ahmad Said personally about the logging scandal which occurred under his administration and many of its decisions were determined himself,” he said in a press conference at the PKR headquarters here.

In the same press conference, Rafizi challenged the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak to drop Umno-BN leaders who are allegedly involved in corruption from being candidates in the upcoming 13th General Elections (GE-13).

Rafizi said that if Najib is truly honest in placing clean candidates which can be accepted by the people, then he must be committed in dropping candidates allegedly involved in corruption scandals.

And not to just submit names to be checked by the MACC.

Rafizi’s statement is in reference to several top Umno-BN leaders who were allegedly implicated in allegations of corruption or MACC investigation.

Among them are, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil (Wanita Umno Chief), Datuk Seri Musa Aman (Sabah Chief Minister), Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department), Datuk Seri Mohamed Hassan (Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan), Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud (Chief Minister of Sarawak), Datuk Seri Ahmad Said (Chief Minister of Terengganu), Datuk Awang Adek Hussin (Deputy Minister of Finance) and Datuk Seri Shafiee Afdhal (Minister for Rural Development).

“Acts of corruption and mismanagement in the Umno-BN administration in states that are under their control is not a new matter.

“If Umno-BN is not ready to drop these leaders, it proves that the party is not serious to put forward clean candidates and are winnable as touted by the Prime Minister himself,” he said.
