TURUN: 31 December Assembly Will Continue

SHAH ALAM, 25 Dec: The Leader of the Lower Cost of Living Movement (Turun Kos Sara Hidup –TURUN), Azan Safar, said that police investigations on him will not hinder him from continuing the ‘2014: The People’s Miserable Year’ campaign through a huge assembly at Dataran Merdeka on 31 December.

Azan, who was released by the police after being detained for 20 hours yesterday, also questioned the action and the accusation of “sekerap Jarang” (slandering) because he was claimed to be involved in efforts to overthrow the government.

“Is it because I am championing the people’s right and their voiced so that their cost of living is reduced, so I am called a serious criminal or raided like a criminal?

“The truth is I am asking the people to come and give their support so that the government does not take lightly and look past the problem of the people’s cost of living as we approach 2014.

“What wrong is there?” he said in his statement, looking back at when he was arrested by a team of police officers when eating at Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday morning, Malaysia Kini reports.
