SHAH ALAM, July 8: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has filed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unilever Food Solutions to provide exposure to food handlers in Shah Alam on hygiene.

The MoU was signed between the Shah Alam Mayor, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan representing MBSA, and the Managing Director of Unilever Food Solutions Malaysia, Matt Wilke.

It was witnessed by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, and was held at the MBSA Volleyball Hall here in Section 4 during the 2013 Shah Alam City Council level Clean Zone Launch Ceremony.

“Through this collaboration, the Chefmanship Academy will be able to help those who are interested to enhance consumer awareness on the issue of food hygiene.

“And to then encourage food vendors to adopt a more responsible method in conducting business,” said Wilke.

According to Wilke, for the early staged of this partnership with MBSA, the Chefmanship Academy aims to offer opportunities of innovative food hygiene training to food handlers.

He said that this module covers a range of topics including personal hygiene, safe food handling, menu planning and efficient cost management.

“It serves as a training ground for chefs and food entrepreneurs to enhance their skills and expertise in food as well as to offer the best solution to chefs, food manufacturers and food handlers.

“It is a unique initiative which is in accordance with the MBSA Clean Zone project which is a special initiative by the Selangor Government to be the cleanest state in the country, especially for food premises,” he said.
