“Our officers there are still conducting investigation on the incident and any official information,” he said, quoted from Sinar Harian Online.

However, he did not rule out the possibility of the involvement of a Malaysian as a hostage in the attack.

“We know that many of our people are there, so the risk of a Malaysian held hostage in the attack is rather high.

“However, wait for the official information from the officers there. Any information will be shared as soon as possible,” he added.

The Australian National Imams Council condemned the terrorist attack and the detaining of civilians at a restaurant in Sydney since early this morning.

Through a joint statement with the Grand Mufti of Australia, they described it as a clear criminal behaviour that threatens the safety of the public.

“Such actions are denounced in part and in whole in Islam,” they said.

At least 10 employees of the restaurant and 30 civilians have been held hostage in the incident this morning.

So far, the authorities have tightened the security measures around the restaurant.
