SHAH ALAM, 16 June: Despite their team losing 1-2 to Ivory Coast, the supporters for the Japanese team in the World Cup 2014, who showed a positive attitude by collecting litter left after the match ended, should be praised.
The former Manager of the Selangor team, Zakaria Ab Rahim, said that the fans that came from far were certainly disappointed, however it was not expressed through anger or disturbance. Instead, they showed a positive attitude.
“The Japanese fans collected all the rubbish left after the match ended to tell the world that they came to Brazil in peace and brought with them the culture of cleanliness.
“This is an attitude that should be lauded and emulated by all fans, not just in stadiums, but everywhere they go.
“Everyone was surprised to see the attitude of the Japanese fans and they also received attention and praise,” said Zakaria on Facebook.
He urged for this positive attitude to be emulated by football supporters in this country when they have a match at any stadium.
“Can Malaysian supporters emulate this? Yes, they can…it is only whether they want to or not.
“After this, supporters at stadiums should being along plastic bags and collect all the rubbish they see on their way out of the stadium and throw them into the bin, and then head home. Isn’t cleanliness the practice of Islam?” he wrote.
