CM: Investment Increase, Land Prices Will Continue To Rise

KUALA SELANGOR, 25 FEB: The Selangor Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim advised landowners not to sell their land at the moment.

Abdul Khalid said this because he believes that future prices will increase compared to now following the fact that Selangor continues to lead in the investment sector.

“In Selangor, we are the winners in investment. Our state has recorded the highest amount of investments in Malaysia.

“Therefore, the people have to take care of their land so that it is not mortgaged or sold.

“I believe that in future the price of land will increase even more,” he said in a speech at the Ijok constituency Chinese New Year Open House here at the SJKC Simpang Tiga Hall in Ijok.

Also present was his wife, Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut; Kuala Selangor Member of Parliament, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and State Government Exco, Elizabeth Wong.

Lately, according to statistics issued by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), from 2008 till October 2012, Selangor emerged as the state with the highest amount of investments at RM48.53 billion.

Selangor’s performance is the best and highest compared to the previous Umno-BN government and it was reached Pakatan Rakyat Government took over the administration of Selangor from Umno-BN.

In the meantime, Abdul Khalid hopes that the State Government will able to takeover the water services industry.

He said that the offer made to the four concessionaires will benefit the people of Selangor.

“To takeover the management of water, we offered RM9.65 billion. The shares will be owned by the people of Selangor,” he said.

Last week, the Selangor government announced the RM9.65 billion to takeover all four of the water concessionaires.

The companies involved are; the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas – Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd), Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd, Konsortium Abass Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Pengeluar Holding (Splash).

The the same event, Abdul Khalid also presented ‘angpow’ (red packets) to about 1,000 guests.
