KUALA SELANGOR, 11 FEB: Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is ready to debate regarding the Selangor water issue with any of the Umno-BN Chief Minister candidates.

According to Abdul Khalid, by having a debate, the people of Selangor will benefit by being able to evaluate and compare the Selangor water services management tactics between that of the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat and Umno-BN.

“It would be good if (Datuk Seri) Noh Omar wants to debate, if he is the future Chief Minister (candidate), then we can debate,” said Abdul Khalid in a press conference at Kampung Bukit Badong at Bestari Jaya this morning.

The water services management in Selangor is among the key issues that will determine which coalition will win in governing the state in the upcoming elections.

In five years of Pakatan Rakyat’s administration, 92 percent of domestic consumers in Selangor have benefited from the 20 cubic metres of free water scheme.

In addition to that, the increase in water tariffs of 52 percent requested by the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas – Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor) during that period was successfully blocked by Abdul Khalid’s administration.

Tanjong Karang MP, Datuk Seri Noh Omar reportedly challenged Abdul Khalid to debate with him regarding the Selangor water issue.

The tussle for the position of Chief Minister among Umno-BN leaders continues to heat up when several names were said to potentially hold the seat should Umno-BN manage to snatch back the administration of Selangor from Pakatan Rakyat.

Apart from Noh, who is now the Selangor Umno Deputy Chief, other names mentioned are – Selangor BN Coordinator, Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed, Permatang Assemblyman, Sulaiman Abdul Razak and Selangor State Assembly Opposition Leader, Datuk Mohamad Satim Diman.
