90% Of PR 2008 Manifesto Fulfilled

SHAH ALAM, 1 Mac: More than 90 percent of the 23 promises in the 2008 Selangor Pakatan Rakyat manifesto is being implemented, while initiatives such as the provision of 20 cubic metres of free water and micro credit schemes are new policies.

A total of 16 out of the 23 promises have been executed. For example, the gift to children who are starting university studies, the Selangor children’s fund (Tawas), senior citizen insurance coverage and the effort to increase the income of farmers to RM1,200 per month.

Meanwhile there are policies that are currently under planning stages to fulfil the eight other promises such as to provide free preschool education for children, special allowances for housewives and to provide free services for senior citizens at government hospitals.

According to data from the press secretariat of the Selangor Chief Minister’s office, there are six policies which were not included in the manifesto but were implemented by the State Government since 2008.

Apart from the free 20 cubic metres of water, the additional policies include the urban and rural micro credit schemes (Mimbar and Skimsel), Plantation Workers Children’s Fund, the People’s Tuition Programme, Farm Workers Housing Scheme and assistance in building management.
