BESTARI JAYA, 13 Apr: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim gives the impression that the Ijok State Legislative Assembly seat he has held for a term may be contested by Federal Territory PKR Chairman, Dr Idris Ahmad.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid said that he would probably be competing at the Port Klang constituency in the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

However, Abdul Khalid said that the final decision will be finalised in the PKR meeting next week. The results of the meeting will be communicated to Ijok voters before the nomination on 20 April.

“Dr Idris Ahmad in from Ijok, his father and mother are also from Ijok, and many of his relatives are from Ijok.

“We do not only want to win in one or two places, but throughout the country,” said Abdul Khalid while introducing Dr Idris at the Health Screening Programme held at the Ubudiah Batu 4 Homestay here in Ijok.

Abdul Khalid explained that the decision does not mean that he is running away to another area, but it is to ensure that Pakatan Rakyat’s position is strong so as to lead the state after the GE-13.

“We already have an operations room and a work station, and we work as a team in Pakatan Rakyat. The Pakatan Rakyat here has no problems in implementing the (election) framework,” he said.

“I will meet with supporters in Port Klang tomorrow and if they support me in contesting, I will endeavour for a greater success for Pakatan Rakyat.

“I hope the supporters in the Ijok constituency continue to support the candidate nominated by the leadership. I would like to thank everyone for their support and assistance over the years,” said Abdul Khalid.

Also present was the former Kuala Selangor MO, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and the President of the Kuala Selangor District Council, Noraini Roslan.

In the GE-12, Abdul Khalid won the Ijok constituency seat by defeating the BN candidate with a majority of 1,920 votes.
