RM1 Million PKNS Scholarship Fund for Employees and Family Members

SHAH ALAM, 18 May: Employees and family of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) who wants to further their education can now apply for the PKNS Scholarship Fund.

With a provision of RM1 million, the fund is to help children of PKNS members to pursue a full-time bachelor’s degree and for employees, they are offered to further their studies at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate, graduate and professional courses full-time or part-time.

The Deputy General Manager of PKNS Administration and Development, Noraida Mohd Yusof said that this opportunity should be used well, especially to acquire additional knowledge to enhance their existing skills.

“Through the Children’s Education Fund and the Selangor State Government Statutory Bodies or TPASBB, PKNS will allocate RM2 million which can be applied for by employees and their children to further their studies.

“Hopefully it can be used as an impetus for them to achieve continued success in their education and achieve desired ambitions,” he said during the Excellence Awards Ceremony 2012 for Children of PKNS Members at the Development Hall, PKNS Complex.

Previously, PKNS, through the Employees Welfare Association (PKP) and the Islamic Body, allocated RM45,000 as a consolation prize for 123 association members and their children.

They were celebrated for obtaining excellent results in the Religious School Assessment (PSRA), the Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR), the Lower Secondary Assessment (PMR), the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) and the examinations for the Diploma and Bachelor courses.

The prize giving ceremony was officiated by the Deputy General Manager of PKNS Administration and Development, Noraida Mohd Yusof as well as representatives of PKP and the Islamic Body.

Outstanding students received cash consolation prizes between RM50 and RM750 per person.

This consolation prize was given based on the exam category and the number of As received.

Some of the best achievements from member’s children are 9A+ in the SPM, 9As in the PMR and 5As in UPSR/PSRA.

In the meantime, recipient of the outstanding award, Ahmad Zahir Abu Bakar, 20, who is studying at the Mara Institute of Technology (UiTM) reminded the young people still studying to take care of their relationship with Allah and their parents so as to receive blessings in their respective fields.

Ahmad Zahir who is currently pursuing a degree in accountancy at the undergraduate level once received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award (Dean’s Award) at the diploma level in the same field.
