Minister Should Clarify Fake Degree Claim

KUALA LUMPUR, June 27: Two of Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s cabinet ministers linked to possessing fake degrees from abroad have been urged to clarify the details regarding the allegation.

Serdang Member of Parliament, Dr Ong Kian Ming claimed that he received information regarding the credentials of the Human Resource Minister, Datuk Richard Riot Jaem from the Foreign Ministry’s website.

“We call for the minister to clarify as to why the Foreign Ministry listed his credentials as stated and not as claimed by the minister, stating that he received Degree and Masters from the University of Hertfordshire, London, as reported in various online sites yesterday,” he said.

Dr Ong said this in a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

Richard allegedly has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the Chartered Institute of Business Administration (Ireland), Teoranta in 1994, and a Masters in Business Administration from Preston University, USA– a well-known bogus university, according to media reports.

In the meantime, Richard reportedly will be taking legal action against the accusations.

Elaborating, Dr Kian Ming stated his readiness to face legal action on his claim.

According to Dr Kian Ming, the Ministry of Science and Technology website also did not show the personal details of its minister, Datuk Dr Ewon Ibin today.

Previously, Dr Kian Ming exposed that Dr Ewon received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Commonwealth Open University and a Philosophy Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Golden State University, Wyoming, the United States of America; both listed as ‘unauthorised schools and invalid degrees’ by the Oregon and Maine state governments.

“We ask for the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak to request for one or both of these minister’s resignation if they are not honest regarding their education credentials or if they had received dubious degrees from degree factories,” he added.
