NGOs Host Countdown Tour, Massive Flash Mob Before #Blackout505

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14: A group of more than 50 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will organise a “countdown” programme prior the #Blackout505 peaceful assembly which will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 22 June.

The programme will begin with a ‘flash mob’ involving people of all races and backgrounds along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur starting at 2.00pm this Saturday.

During the flash mob event, the public is also urged to attend by bringing various placards based on respective creativity.

According to the Coordinator of Youth Solidarity Malaysia (SAMM), Badrul Hisham Shaharin, in addition to the flash mob at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, a countdown event will also held in several places throughout the country.

“To ensure the greatest mobilisation and as a final act to raise awareness of the public regarding the 13th General Election (GE-13) fraud, the 505 People’s Voice Coalition has coordinated a tour to countdown towards June 22.”

Badrul Hisham said this in a press conference today at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.

On June 17, the Premier Speech programme will be held involving several NGO leaders and student activist at the Halaman Meru Permai Public Field in Meru Raya, Ipoh.

The countdown programme will continue on 18 June at Dataran Tonggak 10, Sg Besar, Selangor, with another Premier Speech programme.

‘Flash mob’ will be back in action for the second phase at Jalan Tun Perak, near Pudu Raya starting from 6.00 pm on 19 June.

On June 20, the Premier Speech programme will take place at Taman Muhibbah in Temerloh, Pahang.

Meanwhile the ‘Summit Countdown Night’ will be held at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in the evening of 21 June.

Apart from SAMM, other NGOs involved include STudent Solidarity Malaysia (SMM), Jerit, Radio Bangsar, Kill the Bill, Bangsar Utama University (UBU) and so on.

The countdown events also include big names in Pakatan Rakyat such as the Member of Parliament for Batu, Tian Chia, PAS Deputy, Mohamad Sabu, student activist, Adam Adli and Safwan Anang, activist, Hishammuddin Rais, Badrul Hisham himself and others.

Meanwhile, commenting on the Blackout505 Assembly on 22 June, Badrul Hisham expects for the rally to gather more than 200,000 participants.

Also participating in the press conference was Hishamuddin and representatives from several other NGOs.
