PETALING JAYA, June 3: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) expressed their support towards the organisation of the “Blackout505” peaceful assembly to be held in Kuala Lumpur on 15 June.

PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that a discussion will be held with the Inspector General of the Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, to ensure that the rally will carry out safely and peacefully.

“We have decided to support this initiative of holding the peaceful assembly and the secretariat committee as well as representatives of NGOs will examine all aspects related.

“Negotiations with the Inspector General of the Police and the security personnel will be carried out so that the assembly will be peaceful and controlled,” he said in a press conference here today.

So far, the location for the assembly has yet to be determined.

A series of ‘Blackout 505’ rallies have been held at several locations throughout the country since the May 8 assembly which was held at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya.

Following the organisation, a number of PR leaders and political activists were arrested and charged in court.

Among them were; Seri Setia Assemblyman, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Batu Member of Parliament, Tian Chua, ABU Coordinator, Haris Ibrahim, the President of SMM, Safwan Anang, PAS activist, Datuk Tamrin Ghafar and student activist, Adam Adli Abdul Halim.
