LZS Receives Zakat and Contributes to ATM, PDRM and Asnaf

SHAH ALAM, July 13: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has received business Zakat (tithes) from Sime Darby Property Berhad (SDPB) amounting to RM1 million for the 2012 financial year end.

DYMM (his Royal Highness) the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj received the Zakat contribution from the Managing Director of SDPB, Datuk Abdul Wahad Maskan during a Fast Breaking Feast With the People at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque here at Bukit Jelutong yesterday.

Also present was the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the State Government Secretary, Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi, and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) Chairman, Datuk Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa.

Also present was the LZS Chairman, Tan Sri Syed Anwar Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullai, Selangor Mufti, Datuk Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid, the Director of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, Datuk Marzuki Hussin as well as other members of the State Government Executive Councillors.

At the same event, the LZS also presented Zakat contribution to the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) which each received RM100 thousand.

The contribution will be channelled to the families of soldiers involved in the peace and security mission in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

The ATM was represented by the Kagat Operation Deputy Director, Colonel Saodi Kasim and PDRM was represented by the Selangor Acting Police Chief, SAC Datuk A Thaiveegan.

In addition, the fate of the family of three members of PDRM from Selangor who were killed during the operations against militants in Lahad Datu also received attention from LZS.

LZS channeled higher education assistance for the children of the families of the late Sergeant Sabaruddin Daud, the late Superintendent Ibrahim Lebar and the late Corporal Azrul Tukiran.

Also being honoured in the ceremony were 150 poor asnaf, 150 needy asnaf, 100 converts and 141 orphans.

All received a donation of RM400 per person except for the orphans who received RM100 per person.
