KUALA LUMPUR, July 16: Pandan Member of Parliament, Rafizi Ramli finally revealed an individual who claimed to have close relationship with the top leaders of the Election Commission (EC).
He claimed that the indelible ink supply contract was given to a businessman from Singapore.
“The indelible ink contract was achieved via a direct negotiations expert with Mohd Salleh Md Ali, identification number 671112665021 (IC origin Singapore).
“It was rumoured that the direct negotiation expert has close ties with leaders of the country, and is also said to be close with the EC Chairman and his Deputy,” he said in Parliament.
In addition to the impermanent indelible ink, the company was also awarded a contract to supply equipment for the GE-13, including caps, t-shirts, and the impermanent indelible ink.
According to Rafizi, the individual concerned has also been awarded contracts via direct negotiations through the Ministry of Defense.
Rafizi said that this exposure is due to the EC giving excuses and not revealing the name of the ink supplier despite being repeatedly asked to do so.
Prior to this, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said that the cost of purchasing the impermanent indelible ink tripled from RM2.4 million to RM7.1 million in the recent GE-13.
Rafizi also questioned the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) which did not take any action to date on the ink supplier.
“What action will be taken against the direct negotiations expert, and what is the status of the MACC investigation against the purchase of wink, t-shirts, caps, included in the additional purchases of the EC,” he asked again.
Accordingly, Rafizi also asked the said minister to confirm the name of the individual as revealed during the winding-up session in the House of Representatives.
