SHAH ALAM, July 17: The State Government denounced any party that insults Islam or any other religion.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that one of the best principles in Islam is respect for other religions.

He was responding to the actions of the controversial due, Tan Jye Yee and Vivian Lee, who ridiculed Islam and the Ramadan month on their Facebook recently.

“The State Government considers that behaviours that degrade Islam should not have been done by the couple or anyone else,” he said in press conference after the Executive Council meeting recently.

The couple uploaded a picture of them enjoying “Bak Kut Teh” (a Chinese herbal pork soup).

The picture was captioned “Selamat Berbuka Puasa ” – a Malay greeting for breaking fast on their Facebook page.

The couple is now being investigated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the police.
