Shah Alam Hygiene the Attraction for Investors and Tourists

SHAH ALAM, July 7: The hygiene and beauty of Shah Alam City is the main attraction for tourists and foreign investors to continue to come to the state.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that now, Shah Alam has become a world-class city with the presence of many foreign investors who make large investments in the Shah Alam industrial area.

“Big investors who come from China, Japan, USA, Singapore and Europe have factories here,” he said.

He said this during the launch of the Clean Zone programme of the Shah Alam CIty Council (MBSA) here at the MBSA Volleyball Hall in Section 4, Shah Alam, which was attended by about 1,000 people.

He said that the Shah Alam CIty cleanliness which has attracted many people to stay in areas in Shah Alam has also increased the commercial value of the city.

“This Jom Bersih (Let’s Clean) programme has been expanded to increase community participation in the aspect of sanitation for health,” he said.

He said that local authorities have been urged to review the proposed use of modern technology in cleaning the area so that cleaning jobs can be faster and more effective.

He said, the garbage disposal system used in large areas is no longer effective because Selangor is lacking space for the purpose.

Thus, through the use of modern technology, the problem can be overcome in addition to preserving the natural environment and health of the surrounding communities.

Meanwhile, the Shah Alam Mayor, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan said, for 2013, MBSA have chosen Sections 2,3 and 4 as the new location for the Clean Zone programme.

He said that MBSA will take the initiative to beautify the landscape in the area as as well as to ensure that tree trimmings will be conducted according to schedule.

“This year, enforcement and the inspection of food premises will be upgraded to ensure that food and drink vendors will adhere to the cleanliness monitoring and standards,” he said.

At the event, MBSA also contributed RM1,000 cash to suraus around Section 2, 3 and 4.
