Take Advantage of Ramadan by Practicing Virtuousness

SHAH ALAM, July 10: Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim urged all religious teachers and committee members of mosques and suraus in Selangor to enhance their role in effort to benefit the Ramadan month through religious, intellectual and social programmes.

According to him, Muslims, particularly in Selangor, must utilise every day in this virtuous and blessed month by pure and meaningful practices in self, family and community development.

“We are encouraged to take the opportunity to raise merit by performing Sunnah practices such as the Tarawih Sunnah and reciting the al-Quran throughout the Ramadan month.

“We are also encouraged to give alms to foster accountability, mutual concern and help one another in line with the recommendations of the Prophet Muhammad,” said Abdul Khalid.

In his Ramadan celebrations message, he also asked to bring music to mosques and suraus during the Ramadan month nights by continuing al-Quran Takmir and Tadarus classes as a means of unity and strength of the Muslim community, rather than a purely religious claim.

In the meantime, the Port Klang Assemblyman also reminded everyone that political ideology differences should be set aside to increase understanding of each other in addition to being penitent on the misfortune that has befallen Muslim brothers in Syria, Palestine and the political upheaval in Egypt.

“Finally, on behalf of the Selangor State Government, I wish happy Ramadan Al-Mubarak 1434 AH, the same as 2013 AD.

“Good deeds and practices done during Ramadan will be accepted and will get blessings from HIM,” he concluded.
