20,000 People of all Races Attend Selangor Government Open House

SHAH ALAM, August 8: The Aidilfitri (Eid al-Fitr) this year was celebrated with gaiety when more than 20,000 people of all races visited the Selangor Government Open House at the Selangor State Secretariat Square here today.

The event which started at 11am and ended at 2pm was attended by people from all corners who took the opportunity to meet and greet the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Also present was the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) Speaker, Hannah Yeoh, and other state executive Councillors including Datuk Teng Chang Khim, Rodziah Ismail, Iskandar Abdul Samad, Dr Daroyah Alwi, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi as well as several Assemblymen.

Foreign diplomats, political party leaders, tourists and the heads of departments of the Selangor Government further enlivened the event which was hosted by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

A total of 270 people of Selangor, made up of people with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, orphans, single mothers and indigenous people were celebrated by the state leadership.

Abdul Khalid also took the time to meet with the media before handing over 10,000 green packets to the children there.

Visitors were served a variety of food, mostly local fares such as satay, rendang, lemang, ketupat and nasi himpit, in addition to receiving a pack of ole-ole.
