Non-Muslim Leaders Criticise Brutality of the Egyptian Military Regime

SHAH ALAM, August 15: Today, non-Muslim leaders strongly condemned the Egyptian military regime’s killing of their own people and demanded for the tyranny to stop immediately.

MP for Padang Serai, N Surendran said that the tragedy is an action which ignores the democratic process through the elections after the fall of the Mubarak regime.

“We urge the Egyptian military government to restore the rule of the country to the people immediately,” he said in a press statement today.

The PKR Vice-President said that the Egyptian regime should withdraw the state of emergency and release Dr Mohmed Mursi and his followers from illegal detention.

“The army and the police involved in the murder tragedy of the Egyptian people must be subject to the law,” he said.

Machang Bubuk Assemblyman, Lee Khai Loon said that the Malaysian government should be active in the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) to urge the Egyptian government to return the power to the people.

“The tragedy is an act of oppression and is wrong. Peace process should be implemented in Egypt so that the people can live in peace,” he said when contacted by TVSelangor.

Meanwhile, the Kampung Tunku Assemblyman, Lau Weng San said that the Egyptian military’s actions of killing their own people should be strongly condemned.

“We strongly condemn the brutal actions of the Egyptian army in attacking civilians who were peacefully assembling,” said the DAP leader, quoted from his Twitter page.

Yesterday, the Egyptian government announced a month-long state of emergency and issued a curfew for the people of the country.

Unofficial reports say nearly 3,000 have been killed and over 10,000 injured, including children, mothers and women.
