SHAH ALAM, August 25: DYMM the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah reminded the people of the state who will be performing the pilgrimage this year to uphold the good name of the state.

He said, those who will be performing the Fifth Pillar of Islam should focus their intention to worship and not for other purposes.

“Follow all rules and laws set by the Saudi Arabian government during the Hajj so that all matters can be simplified and run smoothly,” the Sultan said.

He said this during the 1434H/2013M Hajj Premier Course Completion Ceremony at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque yesterday.

Also present was the Selangor royal family, the Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim; Executive Councillor for Islamic Affairs, Sallehin Mukhyi; State Secretary, Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi and the Tabung haji Board (LTH) Director, Md Ridza Md Zain.

Also present were Members of Parliament and Selangor Assemblymen.

A total of 3,600 pilgrims from Selangor, including two blessed by the Sultan, Abdullah Apandi Ngalimin, 58, and Baharun Mohd Noh, 71, will be performing the Hajj this season, including 14 others sponsored by the Tabung Bantuan Menunaikan Haji Waris, Kerabat dan Datuk-Datuk Diraja Selangor 1434H/2013M (a fund to assist those who want to perform the Hajj).

While congratulating the selected pilgrims, he reminded pilgrims to not hold protests or demonstrations while in Mecca and Medina.

“I do not approve for the people of Selangor who go to perform the Hajj or Umrah in the holy lands of Mecca and Medina to hold protests or demonstrations,” he said.
