BATU CAVES, August 1: Participants of the Jom Shopping (Let’s Go Shopping) Raya Assistance Programme praised the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat State Government for caring about the people as the Aidilfitri (Eid al-Fitr) celebrations come about.

For them, the RM100 assistance could ease the burden of the less fortunate as they make preparations to celebrate Aidilfitri.

A single mother, Norbaya Ahmad, 63, from Kampung Kerdas 5 who is suffering from breast cancer since 13 years ago is grateful for this assistance.

“Alhamdullilah, although the assistance is only RM100, but it would help me prepare to celebrate Aidilfitri this time, as I can no longer work, I have no source of income, my husband has passed away and I have no children.

“Fortunately we have a concerned State Government, thank you,” said Norbaya when met by TVSelangor in the programme which was held here at the Batu Caves Giant Supermarket today.

At this time, Norbaya only relies on monthly assistance from the Selangor Social Welfare Department (JKM) which gives her RM300 a month for her living expenses.
